Accessible garden project helped by Redrow

7th February 2025
Redrow - News - Redrows Olivia Caci with Ellie Pugh and Hannah Wild from Vivo Care Choices

Wellbeing has been put front and centre in a new garden space at a care facility after it received a donation from Redrow.

Vivo Care Choices deliver a range of flexible and responsive support for people with learning disabilities and autism across Cheshire. It has been able to install summer house for Chester residents to enjoy after receiving £2,700 from our community fund, linked to Kings Moat Garden Village.

Hannah Wild, project coordinator at Vivo care Choices, said: “The summer house is one part of our new garden space. The well-designed garden offers countless health and wellbeing benefits. We’re also planning to install raised beds, planting and sensory equipment including a water feature.

“Our mission at Dorin Court Bungalows is to provide exceptional care and support to individuals aged 18 and above, encompassing a diverse range of needs including learning disabilities, autism, ADHD, physical disabilities, and mental health impairments. Recognising the invaluable benefits that a well-designed garden can offer to the health and wellbeing of our service users, staff, and the environment, we’re so proud that we have been able to make this dream a reality.”

The accessible, functional, and welcoming garden space at Dorin Court extends beyond mere aesthetics; it directly impacts the holistic wellbeing of the service users. For individuals with diverse support needs, including those with autism spectrum disorder, the sensory garden will offer a vital space for engagement and self-regulation.

Hannah continued: “Spending time outdoors with nature offers numerous benefits. And the summer house and garden are going to significantly benefit those who use our service; offering a safe, quiet space which will serve as a sensory haven with opportunities to create a calming environment helping reduce stress and anxiety.”

Anna Evans-Kerr, sales director at Redrow NW, said: “It’s great to see how our donation has been used. The summer house will be a great addition to use when the weather gets a bit warmer and the garden will empower service users and help them foster their independence and promote their overall wellbeing – something we take pride in supporting.”
