Just Drop-In Youth Info and Support was set up by Ann Wright 25 years ago to provide accessible counselling for children across the north of Cheshire East, including Macclesfield, Bollington, Wilmslow, Knutsford and Poynton. The qualified counsellors work with children to help them overcome issues with their mental health including anxiety and low mood.
The money received by Just Drop In has come from our £5,000 Woodford Community Fund. This fund has been shared between six groups and good causes close to Woodford Garden Village.
Ann said: “Through our counselling we see improved short term emotional and mental health outcomes for children. We also help parents and carers feel equipped to deal with changes in their children’s lives. As with a lot of organisations, we are in challenging times and haven’t been able to invest in some of our counsellor resources that are vital to support our work.”
Just Drop In provides free counselling both in Poynton High School and at Poynton Civic Hall. They have bought new manuals, flip charts, fidget toys and lamps for their counselling room with our donation.
Anna Evans-Kerr, sales director for Redrow NW, said: “Just Drop In is offering a vital service that I’m sure has been helping many families across the area. Their tools will help children to enjoy childhood and remove barriers they may face at school, in friendships and have these tools to use for the rest of their lives.”
Occupying the former Woodford Aerodrome site, the development is situated on the border of Greater Manchester and Cheshire East and offers a readymade community with a host of amenities on the doorstep, including its own pub and a primary school, plus a wealth of green spaces and play areas, parks and meadow areas.
