And not only did we fund the supplies, but area sales manager Chris Edwards also stepped in to help with painting it too.
Parish Council Chair, Alex Irving, said: “The focus of the parish council is to preserve the traditional aspects of the village, which make it such a desirable place to live and visit. We were thrilled when we found out that Redrow were going to fund the supplies, but it was even better that Chris came and painted it for us too.”
Redrow colleagues are granted two days a year to volunteer. Employees can choose their own preferred cause or project or take part in one of many community projects near developments.
The traditional red telephone box is situated in the centre of the village and the parish council have a desire to use this space in a more constructive way such as a children’s toy swap, mini library, or a new home for the defibrillator.
Alex continued: “Until we can do a full refurbishment, we wanted to paint the phone box and give it a freshen up – it looks so much better.”
The parish council has a focus on ensuring the village remains a tranquil place for residents and visitors and have spent money on planting, clean signage and arranging a voluntarily litter pick too.
Chris Edwards said: “We’re keen to support the wider community close to our Daresbury Garden Village venture, so when the council applied to our community fund, we definitely wanted to help. Building thriving communities is at the heart of everything we do, and we recognise the difference we can create through supporting our local communities and charitable projects.”
The £6,000 community fund has been shared between nine groups and good causes local to Daresbury Garden Village.
