By living rent-free and controlling their budget, the couple was able to save an impressive £38,000 towards their house deposit over nearly five years. Parmjoat explained: “Not having to worry about rent meant we could focus entirely on saving for our deposit. We have no regrets. It would have been much harder to achieve this if we had been renting, especially with the prices in London.
“We lived on a very tight budget. We sacrificed holidays and luxuries. Our last holiday was in 2018, but knowing it was all for our dream home made it worth it”.
Wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life while still having easy transport links to get to work, the couple focused their search on Kent. After years of living on a busy London road with constant noise from buses and emergency vehicles, they were drawn to the tranquillity of a small cul-de-sac in the Amber Fields development. Looking back on their journey, the couple agree that their sacrifices were worthwhile. Gurraj summed it up: “This has been a dream come true. Seeing all our hard work payoff is incredibly rewarding.”
