Redrow South East has donated £950 to Team Reid Reads, enabling the purchase of books for children in Kent. This support is part of a growing campaign to inspire a love of reading and improve book access for young students.
The donation, which is part of Redrow South East’s Community Fund, marks a significant step forward for #Reiding4Joy, a literacy initiative launched by Tracey Reid, founder of Team Reid Reads (in partnership with Usborne). The campaign aims to tackle disparities in book ownership among children and encourage reading for pleasure.
“This generous contribution from Redrow allowed us to expand our efforts this year,” said Tracey Reid. “Redrow’s funding has made it possible to donate to Bligh Primary School and to The Academy of Cuxton Schools. Seeing the children’s excitement as they explore their new books is incredibly rewarding.”
At Bligh Primary School, 90 books were donated to their reception students, while 60 were distributed to students at The Academy of Cuxton Schools. Tracey’s efforts were inspired by a statistic from the National Literacy Trust revealing that 1 in 5 children aged 5 to 8 do not own a single book at home. The campaign underscores the importance of reading for pleasure, a factor that studies show is a strong indicator of academic success.
We are incredibly proud to support Tracey’s inspiring campaign through our Community Fund,” said Stuart Galloway, Sales Director at Redrow South East. “By working together, we’re not just fostering a love of reading but also helping to create stronger, more connected communities.”
The funding has already begun to impact students at both schools, enriching their learning environment and encouraging them to explore the joys of reading.
