Redrow South Midlands presented Dr Stuart Field, of Holy Trinity Church in Bottisham, with a £250 donation as part of its community fund, enabling the planting of dozens of fresh flowers to delight visitors as the weather warms up.
The funds will also facilitate Holy Trinity Church's wider mission to create an eco-churchyard for the village to enjoy. The plan is to leave the grass to grow naturally for several years to encourage flowers to thrive, attract wildlife and reseed.
Churchwarden Dr Field said: “There is a public footpath through the churchyard adjacent to the local primary school, so the public and children can appreciate our efforts to increase biodiversity as well as the naturally developing grassland and the insects and butterflies attracted to it.
“The funds from Redrow South Midlands have enabled us to purchase hundreds of spring bulbs and numerous wildflower seeds to establish our spring and summer meadows in the churchyard.
“These have been a major factor in us receiving a bronze-level Churchyard Conservation Award from The Wildlife Trust BCN. For this we are most grateful and thank Redrow for its outstanding contribution to our efforts.”
Now in its sixth year, our annual fund supports organisations across the county with donations to help them continue to thrive and offer services to their communities.
Andrew Newman, Sales Director for Redrow South Midlands, said: “Churches are at the heart of village life, and we are delighted to have helped Holy Trinity Church in its fantastic efforts to plant colourful flowers and create an eco-churchyard for everyone to enjoy.
“Donations are crucial to building thriving communities, and we’re very much looking forward to supporting the church as it continues to make an impact around the community over the coming years.”
