Our South Midlands branch, builders of Kingsland Park on Goodward Avenue, has presented Thomas’s Fund with a donation of £1,020 as part of its Community Fund initiative.
The donation will be used to help run a community music therapy group for premature babies and their parents, supporting babies recently discharged from Kettering General Neonatal care unit. The sessions will be led by a member of the Thomas’s Fund team, NICU MT trained Registered Music Therapist, Miranda Bray. This group was requested by parents following an initial pilot NICU Music Therapy project and aims to support parent-child bonding, early communication skills and relationships between parents in the group.
Founded in 2007, Thomas’s Fund has grown into a charity with three HCPC Registered music therapists and a group of dedicated ambassadors. The charity provides music therapy to children and young people with complex needs and life limiting conditions at their own home or in hospital throughout Northamptonshire.
Now in its fifth year, Redrow South Midland’s Community Fund aims to support local organisations across Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire with donations to help them continue to thrive.
Lucy Smith, Co-Founder of Thomas’s Fund and Thomas’s Mother, said: “We’re extremely grateful to Redrow South Midlands for this generous donation which will make a huge difference to the children and families we support, especially those in our NICU music therapy group.
“We started as a small organisation and are now able to develop new initiatives to continue and improve the support we provide. We’re very proud of the impact that we have had so far and we’re excited to use these funds to continue our work with the NICU unit at a local hospital – thank you, Redrow.”
Andrew Newman, Sales Director at Redrow South Midlands, said: “Here at Redrow South Midlands we’re delighted to be supporting Thomas’s Fund and their amazing initiative.
“The work the team does with children and young people is invaluable to families across Northamptonshire. We’re pleased to be able to offer our support and look forward to seeing how our contribution will enhance their work with the NICU unit.”
