Redrow South West, which is currently building new homes in Somerset, presented Connect-Ed with the donation as part of our Community Fund initiative.
The fund allows local organisations to apply to receive specific donations, that will enable them to continue to thrive, and local causes were invited to apply for their share of a £10,000 pot.
Connect-Ed is an inclusive games and social group that supports adults with autism spectrum conditions and learning disabilities. The group offers a free service for all adults who struggle to socialise, by hosting regular meets and games sessions twice a month.
Our £400 donation will cover the costs of the group's next 24 sessions, as well as funding their Boxing Day group meal at the Quarterjack Function Room in Wells, where they can get together and celebrate the festive season with friends.
Anna Vaughan-Spruce, Founder of Connect Ed, said: "I set up Connect-Ed after discovering that there were no free groups or services for adults with Autism Spectrum Conditions and learning disabilities in the whole of Mendip. We have since established a warm, welcoming, safe, accessible and inclusive space for all to enjoy, thanks to our group members and volunteers.
“We are thankful to Redrow for funding our Christmas events this year and helping some of the most isolated group members!"
