Redrow South West, which is currently building at Berkeley Dene, in Berkeley, and The Alders at Great Oldbury, in Stonehouse, presented Matson Rugby Football Club with the £200 donation the team requested to used towards player sponsorship.
The annual fund, which first launched in 2023, aims to help local organisations with specific donations so that they can continue to thrive and provide for their community. Local groups and charities from across the South West were invited to apply for their share of a £10,000 pot.
Our donation will go towards the sponsorship of one of its team members covering the costs of kit, training and travel.
Nikki Budding, member of the Matson RFC committee, said: “Matson RFC has been at the heart of our community for many years, offering young people and adults alike a supportive and inclusive space to develop both on and off the field. We’re incredibly grateful to Redrow for this generous donation – it’s gestures like this that help grassroots clubs like ours continue to grow and thrive.
The player sponsorship will directly support one of our team members this season, helping to cover essential costs like kit, training, and travel. It’s brilliant to see local businesses investing in the future of community sport.”
Sian Smith, Sales Director at Redrow South West, said: “We’re committed to building thriving communities and are proud to support local clubs and organisations so that they can continue to do wonderful work.
“Matson RFC is a focal point of the Matson and wider Gloucester community, providing a sociable space for the players to stay active and make friends. We’re delighted to donate funds to help the team and be part of their journey this year!”
