To mark the occasion, the team installed a special insect home at developments in Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, Devon and Bristol, to help make the region a more bee-friendly place.
The bee and bug homes have been placed in green space at the following developments:
The Alders at Great Oldbury, Stonehouse
Berkeley Dene, Berkeley
Blaise Park, Milton
Charlton Common, Filton
The bee and bug homes are now a permanent fixture at each development, providing the perfect habitat for little critters and a safe nesting environment for solitary bees, which play a vital role in pollination, but often struggle to find suitable shelter.
The initiative is part of our broader mission to promote eco-conscious living and inspire residents to take small but meaningful actions for the planet; creating thriving communities for both people and nature.
Each Redrow community is built with biodiversity in mind, featuring green spaces, wildflower planting, and wetland areas like ponds and swales. These efforts support not only bees but also a wider range of local wildlife.
Sian Smith, Sales Director at Redrow South West, said: “We’re proud to mark World Bee Day by providing a safe home for important pollinators at our developments. Bees play a crucial role in biodiversity and food production and installing our new bee and bug homes across the region is just one example of how we’re creating nature-rich spaces throughout our developments.
“We are also encouraging homeowners to plant wildflowers and introduce insect homes in their own gardens and adopt other eco-friendly practices as part of their everyday lifestyle. Together, we can collectively build a more sustainable future.”
Our Sustainability Strategy includes a commitment to enhancing green infrastructure and reducing environmental impact. From energy-efficient homes built with responsibly sourced materials, to community green spaces designed to nurture nature, we are helping to create places that support both people and planet. The new bee and bug homes will continue to provide a safe haven for bees while keeping the importance of pollinators in our environment front-of-mind for residents and visitors.

Other developments in the region, such as Berkeley Dene, feature Eco Electric properties, including The Letchworth, a three-bedroom semi-detached home available from £349,000. Our Eco Electric homes are heated by efficient Air Source Heat Pumps, underfloor heating as standard on the ground floor and have even thicker insulation.
