Having a ball - Berkeley housebuilder supports local group

9th August 2024
Sharpness AFC community fund

Redrow has supported a local sports club with a donation of £500.

Redrow South West, currently building at Berkeley Dene on Station Road, has donated £500 to Sharpness AFC as part of its Community Fund initiative.

The fund, which was launched last year, provides organisations and charities with donations to help them thrive, with local causes encouraged to apply for their share of a £10,000 pot.

Sharpness AFC was founded in 1900 and has since grown to have three teams, with almost 100 players aged 16 and upwards.

Helping bring the community together, whether player or supporter, the club welcomes crowds of up to 100 spectators at home games, as well as at practice sessions.

The funds will be used by Sharpness AFC to help make improvements to the grounds which are necessary for the club to gain promotion into the higher leagues, including floodlights, stands and new goals.

James Priday, Joint 1st Team Manager at Sharpness AFC, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to receive Redrow South West’s donation. The money will be instrumental in helping Sharpness AFC move up in the leagues."

“I’d like to say a huge thanks to everyone who has supported us so far, including Redrow South West, and encourage anyone interested to come along and get involved – whether player or cheerleader!”

Sian Smith, Sales Director at Redrow South West, said: “We are delighted to have donated to Sharpness AFC as part of our Community Fund initiative."

“We are committed to building thriving communities within the local area and are proud to support the club in its mission to encourage more people to get fit and have fun. Our donation is helping the club make improvements to the grounds, to help continue bringing the community together to keep fit and make friends."

“We’re thrilled to be helping the team on their path – or pitch – to success!”

Surrounded by picturesque countryside yet close to all the amenities and conveniences expected of 21st century living, Berkeley Dene offers the perfect combination of rural and suburban living. With an excellent selection of schools within easy reach, the development is the ideal place to set up a home.
