The couple had raised their family in a 1930s property in Hoole, Chester, but once all the children had flown the nest, it didn’t make sense for them to stay in a large family home.
Hilary, said: “Our last home was very sentimental to all of us, but especially Rob as it was the house he grew up in. But after living in it for 20 years we could see that we’d need to spend a bit of money modernising it.
“I knew that a new build home would mean zero maintenance for a good while after we’d moved in and that it would probably mean cheaper energy bills too with them being so energy efficient.”
When Hilary suggested selling their home, Rob wasn’t keen at first, but then Hilary booked a visit to Kings Moat Garden Village on Wrexham Road.
“We went in between Christmas and New Year on a bit of a whim and fell in love with the Leamington Lifestyle. We laughed when we said the idea was to downsize, which technically we have, as we have three bedrooms not four, but each one comes with an en-suite and we’ve got separate rooms downstairs should we wish to watch our own TV. We love that our bedroom has a real hotel vibe, and Rob adores the huge walk-in shower after being accustomed to using a wet room in our previous home,” Hilary continued.

Hilary said: “We started off using our own solicitors, but it became clear we may not make our chosen completion date, so we switched to Redrow’s recommended legal advisors and they were fab. I think because they are so used to dealing with Redrow it makes everything easier and they were very easy to talk to.
“Home Move Hub also helped us with the sale of our existing property and went back to our buyers on all their questions. They really protected us from a lot of the stress. Between them and Redrow they made everything happen and we felt like we had a real team working on our behalf. It was like having our hands held all the way.”
The couple said it was our reputation as a premium housebuilder that lead them to look at Kings Moat Garden Village and they felt lucky that we were building in Chester as they didn’t want to move too far away.
Hilary added: “We love Chester and have lived on the east side of the city for the last two decades but we’re now exploring living south west so it’s been nice to see another side of the city. Within walking distance of the house is Westminster Park plus lots of amenities such as a bakery, pharmacy and post office and we’re close to Broughton retail park.”
